Carey Mulligan scoops best dressed award

Carey Mulligan scoops best dressed award 2010: Young actress’s kooky fashion savvy beats Victoria Beckham and Yasmin Le Bon to Harper’s Bazaar’s best dressed crown. The young British star Carey Mulligan, has been crowned the Best Dressed Woman of 2010 by the UK glossy, Harper’s Bazaar. The 25-year-old actress outclassed more seasoned contenders for the title such as Victoria Beckham, Tilda Swinton, Natalia Vodianova, and even the Prime Minister’s wife, SamCam.
Mulligan, described by one of the judges, the designer Erdem Moralioglu, as being “Like a Godard starlet – but totally modern”, has rarely been off the fashion radar since her much-nominated appearance in “An Education”.
With the assistance of her stylist, Tina Laakkonen, she continually challenges and surprises with her insider knowledge of the latest lust-have names. In the last year alone, she has worn Lanvin, Vionnet, Azzaro, Nina Ricci, Giles and Bottega Veneta, together with Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, Elie Saab, Proenza Schouler and, the Singaporean, Nepal-raised and New York-based, Prabal Gurung, who is one of American Vogue’s Anna Wintour’s ‘hot’ names to watch.
Mulligan’s only slight fall from style grace happened in the aftermath of her recent break-up with actor, Shia LaBeouf, but even then she managed to make grunge-y jeans, a scraggy T-shirt and no make-up look appealing rather than appalling.
Victoria Beckham was the runner-up in the Harper’s Bazaar Best Dressed poll, with Yasmin Le Bon in third place.
The judging panel, which included the magazine’s editor, Lucy Yeomans, Sienna Miller, Stephen Jones, Kim Hersov and Moralioglu, selected the Top 20 women who represent all that is great about British style today, ranging in age from Coco Sumner, the 20-year old daughter of Sting, to Bianca Jagger, 65. The list also included the mother-and-daughter duo of the ‘Brazilian Bombshell’, Andrea Dellal, and her shoe designer-daughter, Charlotte.
Others listed included Alexa Chung, Florence Welch, Kristin Scott Thomas, Natalie Massenet, Kate Moss, Stella McCartney, Sienna Miller, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Shingai Shoniwa of The Noisettes.
Full list below.

4 ways to wear your favourite summer clothes into fallsu

4 ways to wear your favourite summer clothes into fall: Let’s face it — fashion is fickle. The wide-leg trousers you adored last year have been replaced by their super svelte cousin, the skinny pant. And it’s just a matter of time before your beloved circle skirt looks passé when compared to the newly revived pencil version. But does that mean you should shelve summer’s key pieces at the first sign of fall? Far from it, says Judy Inc. fashion stylist Rita Fiorucci. She says you can don your favourite lightweight summer dress, tank top or flowing skirt from season to season. It’s just a matter of knowing how to wear them.
“I think a lot of people get caught up with the idea that certain pieces are strictly for summer or fall,” she says. “In reality, it’s really easy to make a great pair of pants or shoes or whatever work throughout the year — it comes down to what you wear it with.” Here are her top four season-neutral picks and how to wear them year round.
Summer trend: Peep-toe heels, wedges and sandals with heels
They’re an easy way to dress up casual attire and add sophistication to any look, says Fiorucci.
How to wear it for fall: Since bare legs and brisk winds don’t mix, pair any of the above with wool-based texturized stockings, suggests Fiorucci. “Last year, stockings were more opaque and uniform in colour. This season, the more visual interest they have, the better.”
Summer trend: The tank top
Always a fashion favourite, the tank works because it’s a no-brainer. Worn alone or layered, with Bermuda shorts or a billowy skirt, it’s a hot-weather staple that can easily be worn year-round.
How to wear it for fall: Loading up on layers is always smart when the cooler weather hits, so use tanks to your advantage. Wear them under blazers, cardigans or sweaters — they can be a great way to add colour to your wardrobe if you live in black.
Summer trend: High-waisted skirts and waist belts
Because they flatter most body types and help slim (or create the illusion of) a narrow waist, belts are a great way to accentuate this potentially problematic area.
How to wear it for fall: “I’d wear the skirt and belt with a really great turtleneck or button-down collared shirt paired with either a boot or a stacked heel,” says Fiorucci. The key? Increasing the sophistication factor with textured fabrics and looking for a shape-flattering fit.
Summer trend: The skinny pant
A longtime favourite of the slim-legged, they have the potential to work for most body shapes –- as long as they’re proportioned to your body.
How to wear it for fall: “Skinny pants can be tricky to pull off,” says Fiorucci, “but they’re quite flattering if you find the right fit.” Her suggestion for first-time skinny wearers: start with a straight-leg pant. “They’re a great option because they give the slim look without you having to commit to the real thing. And if you like and feel comfortable in them, you can always go for the real thing.”
The bottom line
Don’t put seasonal limitations on your wardrobe. The best way to get your money’s worth on any piece is to make use of it, so look for staples that can work interchangeably as the temperature rises and drops.

Lily Allen to get married in Chanel wedding dress

Lily Allen to get married in Chanel wedding dress 2011: Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld has been commissioned to create Miss Allen’s wedding gown. While speculation continues concerning the possible bridal gown choices of both Kate Middleton (will it really be McQueen?!), and Kate Moss (will John Galliano be up to the challenge?), one person who has got her wedding day attire sorted is Lily Allen.
According to WWD , the singer was spotted at the Chanel headquarters in Paris on Monday afternoon, patiently waiting for a wedding dress fitting. “I’m here to see Karl for my wedding dress” she disclosed.

Allen, who is due to marry long-term boyfriend Sam Cooper this year, was signed up by Lagerfeld in 2009 to star as the “face” of Chanel’s Coco Coccon handbag line, and have been fashionable friends ever since. She even performed live at Chanel’s spring/summer 2010 show , and as one of the French luxury label’s ‘ambassadors’, she is rarely pictured without a Chanel bag dangling from her arm.
Today she was on the front row at the autumn/winter 2011 show, which was held at the Grand Palais in the French capital. Perhaps Allen was eyeing up a potential going-away outfit?

These silky creations in light blue and yellow are simply fascinating but so is the collection itself. Inspired by the movie Days of Heaven set on the farm explain the prairie motifs that can be seen throughout the whole collection that also includes beautiful lace, full skirts, and embellished tulle.
Rodarte Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collection is light with rare pops of black, deep blue, and red. Milan Fashion Week Prada Spring Summer

Milan Fashion Week 2010: Prada Spring Summer 2011: “It’s time to be bold” Miuccia Prada said and sent her beauties down the runway wearing colorful sun frocks, stripy suits, extraordinary bright shoes and simple but classy handbags. I guess I forgot about huge sunhats and fake fur accessories in plenty. This was her Spring/ Summer 2011 collection that she presented as a part of Milan Fashion Week.
In contrast to Prada Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 collection (see Prada Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 ad campaign) that seemed granny-like to me, the new Spring/ Summer 2011 one is much fresher and more youthful. We see neon hues playing with elaborate cartoonish prints, bold flesh-exposing designs combined with strictly official minimalistic ensembles, and lots of fun derived from unusual shoes and chic colored fur tails.
I like the collection very much. It reminds me of my teen years when I pulled on various clothing pieces that at first sight seemed absolutely incompatible but when together and assembled right gave that pretty exravagant and sophisticated look I was always proud of. But Prada is Prada and even now being a smarter lady I feel I still can wear such pieces, designer pieces actually.

Stella McCartney autumn winter collection at Paris Fashion Wee

Stella McCartney autumn winter collection 2011 at Paris Fashion Week – Stella McCartney autumn winter fashion trends for women 2011: It was a mothers and children event at Stella McCartney’s show at the Paris pret-a-porter season.
While the designer was backstage putting the finishing touches to her autumn/winter 2011 collection, with her three eldest children, sons, Miller and Beckett, and daughter Bailey, with the latest addition to the family, 3-month old Riley in her arms, the Russian supermodel, Natalia Vodianova, arrived front of house with her three children, Lucas, Neva, and Viktor. Wearing a Stella McCartney top, with a brief Balenciaga puffball mini, she posed happily for photographers, before joining Sir Paul McCartney, his girlfriend, Nancy Shevell, Liv Tyler, Zoe Felix, and Lucie de la Falaise, in the front row.
McCartney continued her experiments with cleanly-cut, oversized coats and jackets, devoid of ornamentation, in the masculine-inspired, minimalist manner. She introduced finely-pleated Little Black Dresses, which moved with ease along the catwalk – and which suggested ‘Pleats Please’ – but which echoed the volume motif in dropped-shoulder balloon sleeves, and were finished with a large zip at the back. And she added high, stretch, corset-waists to skinny skirts and trousers.
A classic, shawl-collared coat, in cream, soft brushed wool; a boiled wool, fitted ivory dress, which tapped into the collage trend, with stitched panels; and and a cream sweater dress with a collage of stitches, offered a lighter colour palette.
Then came Stella’s gold moment: boiled wool was felted and laminated with gold foil collarless coat, and a scrunched-up gold foil pattern was printed on cowl-back and side-draped dresses, and a loose, pyjama-style trouser suit. Volume was forgotten, as the collection moved into evening wear.
Form-fitting dresses sculpted the body in black, bisected with panels of see-through point d’esprit, and blue velvet was bonded with a “scuba” street for tight jumpsuits and skinks, with a peplum effect.

How To Choose Maxi Dress 2011, tips choose Dress for women 2011: Women often opt for long dresses to wear to a special occasion though in everyday life you will hardly see one in a gown. However, maxi dresses can look fabulous and appropriate in different situations and places.
Maxi dresses can make you look romantic or elegant and reserved. Besides, they can add a bit of hippi style to your look.
All you need to look perfect in a maxi dress is to follow advice we give here. Read and use it to your advantage!
Maxi dresses for short women
It is considered that long skirts do not suit short women making those look like a tent. But if you opt for a dress that fits well and clings to your figure ideally you will look fantastic. Dresses which emphasize waists will be good options as well. You can try a gown with an empire waist or use a beautiful belt. Assymetrical or trapeze dresses will do too.
To create the illusion of a longer silhouette choose a dress with a V-neck. And of course, don’t forget about high heels. Select dresses of monotone fabrics; black, olive, dark-brown and purple will be the best. And stay away from horizontal stripes and large patterns.
If you are slim try flower prints and bright colors, such as orange, pink and yellow. Avoid prints in case you are a curvy girl and try wearing a dress of a knee length.
Maxi dresses for women with voluptuous shapes
If you have a big bust, try dresses with wide straps because thin ones will make your breast look fuller. Large patterns as well as dark monotone colors will make you visually skinnier.
To create the illusion of a thinner waist use a dark belt. Wearing a belt you will make your figure more balanced. Deep V-neck can be a good option as well. Stay away from too wide and baggy dresses, you’ll seem even bigger in those.
Maxi dress for other shapes
If you are tall and slim, try dresses that are neither tight nor loose-fitting. The most essential fact for you is to choose right accessories to attract attention to yourself.
Women of medium height will look great in gowns of perfect tailoring that will accentuate their assets. If your have slender legs, try a dress that goes down to your knees or a little longer. To enphasize a beautfiul breast you should select dresses with wrap-ups or low necks, halter necks will also do.
ow to wear a maxi dress
One should know how to wear a maxi dress. Everything depends on what look you want to create. There are some general recommendations on how to choose accessories to go with your maxi dress
1. Sandals or open-toe shoes look the best with maxi dresses. But never ever wear those with pumps.
2. Do you want to accentuate your waist? Use a belt! Belts are very popular this season. Maxi dresses are usually loose and belt will change your look significantly.
3. Casual maxi dress looks fantastic with big totes, sunglasses and scarves. Such a combination looks stylish and is great for shopping or walks with friends.
4. Chunky jewelry and a hat will complement your look.
5. Tight-fitting jacket or a long cardigan will look good with any maxi dress.
6. If you buy a dress for chic parties opt for good fabrics of smarter tones. And remember: the simpier the fabric the more complicated the design should be, and vice versa.
Trying something new is always difficult especialy if there are so many prejudiced people around you. But don’t be afraid to experiment with your style, every woman can look good!

Victoria Beckham autum winter collecti

Victoria Beckham will show her Autumn Winter 2011 collection at New York Fashion Week: Rumours circulating that Victoria Beckham could show her collection at London Fashion Week have been quashed.
London Fashion Week fans will be disappointed to hear that Victoria Beckham will not be presenting her sixth ready-to-wear collection in the UK next month, as had been rumoured.
The Evening Standard had reported that the fledgling fashion designer was preparing to show during London Fashion Week – a story made all the more believable by the Beckham family’s recent relocation from Los Angeles to their Hertfordshire mansion while footballer, David, trains with London team Tottenham Hotspur.
A London Fashion Week spokesperson told Vogue.co.uk that Beckham is not showing in London this season, and it has now been confirmed by New York Fashion organisers that she is scheduled to present her autumn/winter 2011 range on February 13th, during New York Fashion Week.
Since Beckham launched her ready-to-wear label in 2009, she has always chosen the glossy surroundings of a Manhattan hotel during New York Fashion Week to present her collections to a hand-picked selection of fashion press and buyers, but London Fashion Week – which begins on February 18th – would have provided the perfect setting for such a catwalk treat.
The newly pregnant mother-of-three would have been in good company – fashion giants such as Burberry Prorsum, Paul Smith and Matthew Williamson choose to show their collections during the five-day fashion event – and she could have cut down on the transatlantic commute from her studio in Battersea, south west London, to the style capital of America.
Well, there’s always next time, or in fashion language, next season…

Rihanna with new flowers hair style

Hair Styles 2011: Rihanna with new flowers hair style 2011: Rose and poppy headband worn on X-Factor by the R&B Diva/singer songwriter, Rihanna.Style icon and two-steps-ahead trendsetter, Rihanna, wore flowers in her hair when she appeared on last night’s X Factor results show.
The singer-songwriter and R&B diva, known for her outrageous style, added girl-power to flower-power, with a headband in silk roses and poppies to match her mini-puffball dress, by the London designer William Tempest.
The oversized floral arrangement was perfectly balanced on the star’s new flaming- red hair as she performed her latest single ‘Only Girl (In the World)’ from the album ”Loud”.
The look was a combination of Frida Kahlo and Madonna-as-Evita.
Kahlo, the famous Mexican artist, perfected a multi-colourful gipsy look and was just as known for the flowers in her hair as she was for her mono-brow. Madonna dressed her hair with flowers, by John Galliano, to attend the Los Angeles and New York film premieres of ‘Evita’, in which she starred, in 1996.
Now it’s the turn of Rihanna, rumoured to be house-hunting in London, to be pick of the bunch. The Bajan singer seems to be aware of how powerful her style influence can be as she is also rumored to be starting her own company, Rihanna Entertainment, which will merge all of her businesses including fashion, music, film, fragrance, and book ventures.
Flowers and floral head-pieces are a good tip for dressing-up as the Christmas party season kicks in. If you do not have the courage to go as blooming big as Rihanna, Dorothy Perkins and Monsoon have smaller, less look-at-me versions.
If you want to create your own style, head to V.V.Rouleaux in London’s Sloane Square, SW1. Its large selection will make you feel as though you are in a flower market.

Gisele Bundchen launched the 2011 Ipanema sandal collection – Sandal Trends 2011 of Gisele Bundchen: Gisele Bundchen has been the face and designer of Ipanema sandals for a few years already, each season representing the new collection of comfy beach footwear.
For 2011 the supermodel has designed a few new pairs which look very pretty and are said to be made of high quality materials. The ad campaign for the collection looks cheap though.
The Ipanema Sandals 2011 ad campaign isn’t the best-looking campaign I’ve ever seen. Gisele is photographed sitting and lying on the background covered with colorful drawings. Her sandals are featured right beside her. For me these adverts don’t look attractive at all. But for Gisele I would never notice them.
Gisele Bundchen launched the 2011 Ipanema sandal collection on Wednesday in Istanbul, Turkey. The newly-designed range includes two basic styles Butterfly and Hot Beaches.

Fall fashion 2010 collection’s Chanel at Paris fashion shows

Fall-fashion-2010-collection-of-Chanel
Fall fashion 2010 collection’s Chanel at Paris fashion shows: Freja Beha Erichsen and three bears on an ice floe. This was the arctic scene at Chanel, where giant chunks of bona fide iceberg, specially transported from Scandinavia, formed the frozen landscape around which models solemnly splashed through a sea of ‘berg-melt in shaggy snow boots with ice-block heels.
The Karl conceit of the season, no surprises, was an in-every-way extravagant play on Coco in cold weather. Using more fur than he’d even flung at Fendi—the twist being that here the fur was fake—Lagerfeld steered this collection nearer to couture than ready-to-wear than ever. Fur was woven into brown tweeds; formed deep pelmets on the lower half of leather jackets; became almost igloo-shaped capes, bonnets, even—for goodness’ sake—furry trousers. Meanwhile, the suit and coat combinations also had a level of lavish elaboration usually reserved for haute eveningwear. Fur-fringed embroideries and ice jewelry conspired to create intensely worked ruffled and beaded silhouettes that glinted with rock-crystal neckpieces and fistfuls of rings. Somewhere in there, a flash of translucent silver seemed to be a clutch in which the quilting of the CC classic bag had been frozen into the likeness of a refrigerator ice cube tray.
It was a lucky stroke that the weather outside had kindly assisted Chanel in whipping subzero winds around the Grand Palais while this display was going on. Since humans are suggestible, it took only the merest suspension of disbelief to imagine this collection hitting the mark next fall, despite the fact that it will start to be delivered in July—and who knows in which century we’ll have another winter like this one? Nevertheless, putting global warming and the melting of ice caps both center stage and on the back burner (as it were), this show swept the audience along as they were treated to such amusements as seeing Karl Lagerfeld’s favorite, Baptiste Giabiconi, swagger out of an ice cave in a full-length polar bear coat.
It wasn’t all played for laughs. Within the context of a season of innovative knitwear, Chanel’s was some of the most outstanding. A group of three short angora sweater dresses, tinted iceberg blue in the center, was an amazing follow-up from something Lagerfeld did with dégradé pastel embroidery in couture. One gray and black cardigan coat was knitted in a bubbly grid to mimic a down-filled puffer. And the finale was given to a wedding dress knitted in silk tulle ribbon to resemble Chanel’s bouclé tweed, forming a tight-fitting sweater in the body and then sweeping away in flounces in back. The bride—Freja, again—dangled an ice-block purse on a fur-woven Chanel chain.
